The Listening and Support Service for the Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence is a service promoted by the University of Florence to provide listening, guidance, and qualified support to women in the academic community who may be experiencing situations of difficulty, distress, or risk related to gender-based violence or discrimination.
The service is part of the actions envisaged in the Gender Equality Plan 2024–2026 and is implemented in collaboration with the Careggi University Hospital.
It is managed by a multidisciplinary team composed of psychologists specialized in gender-based violence, social workers, and medical specialists, working in coordination with the local network of social and healthcare services and with Anti-Violence Centres.
The service provides a protected and professional environment, ensuring the utmost confidentiality and safeguarding of the individual, and may activate personalized support pathways.
Users can access the service through an initial phone contact, which allows the activation of the listening and guidance pathway.
Service hours:
Following the initial contact, specialized staff assess the most appropriate forms of support and guidance.
The service receives requests and initiates an initial phase of listening and needs assessment, respecting the timing and wishes of the person.

The service is coordinated by the University of Florence Steering Committee on Well-being, in collaboration with the Careggi University Hospital, through the Regional Reference Centre for Relational Criticalities (CRCR).
